Harry and Meghan will arrive in New York for World Mental Health Day next Tuesday.
Hooray, this is exciting news! The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit New York next week for World Mental Health Day. Some Sussex fans were worried that after the Invictus Games there would be a drought in their activities, but there were some hints that they were ready to become more visible this fall, and it’s really happening.
Their first personal event for the Archewell Foundation in New York will take place, and they plan to appear alongside U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are returning to New York to celebrate World Mental Health Day, PEOPLE reports exclusively.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be in New York on Tuesday, October 10, for the first in-person event of the Archewell Foundation, which will serve as a platform for parents facing mental health challenges in the digital age. The Archewell Foundation will host the "Archewell Foundation Parents' Summit: Mental Wellbeing in the Digital Age" to give a voice to families who are passionately striving to create a safe online world for children and teenagers, PEOPLE reports exclusively. The discussion will explore how we, as a global and local community, can create positive change and support each other in developing solutions that strengthen families and maintain our collective mental wellbeing. The summit will feature parents who have experienced tragic loss related to their children's use of social media. As PEOPLE learned, Meghan and Harry have been working with the parents participating in next week's event behind the scenes. "Families have been collaborating with the Archewell Foundation over the past year, building community and moving towards solutions," says a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 42, will participate in a summit alongside U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy to discuss the importance of this work and explore potential solutions in a conversation led by Carson Daly, a board member of Project Healthy Minds. The event will take place on Tuesday, October 10, as part of the second annual World Mental Health Day festival organized by Project Healthy Minds, the first and largest event of its kind in the country. Project Healthy Minds is a nonprofit organization focused on millennials and Generation Z that addresses the growing mental health crisis and is a long-time partner of the Archewell Foundation founded by Meghan and Harry.
This will be Meghan and Harry's first trip to New York since the paparazzi chase incident in May, and there are still many questions. The British media tried to lie about the chase and slander the Sussexes, calling them melodramatic, but some real stuff did happen, and we know that Harry made some legal threats regarding certain photos that were published for a short time before being taken down. We also know (from their own security personnel who spoke to CNN and other media) that the Sussexes stayed in a private home, and that was one of the main goals of the "paparazzi" - to find out where the Sussexes were staying in New York. I'm only touching on this issue because I hope there are other plans for this visit, and I hope Harry and Meghan can move around the city safely. (One of the funniest parts of this announcement is that Peg and Buttons suddenly have big public events scheduled for Tuesday. Hair will be standing on end! They will both make fools of themselves to steal attention from the Sussexes.)
