Telegraph Money asked international real estate agents to thoroughly explore the world to give you an idea of what types of properties can be purchased in 10 countries for £500,000, £1m, or £5m+. We selected some of the most popular destinations for British emigrants and then categorized properties by price and location - city, coast, and countryside. The tool is designed to give you an overview of what is available. It may help you determine the price point for your dream vacation home and find out what fits within your budget.

To create the tool, we used properties that were sold at the time of writing, but this somewhat limits us. It's just a snapshot of what's available, and in some areas, there were no available properties that met our criteria. This is also not intended to represent the entire country. For example, the real estate market is so vast and diverse, like in the U.S., that it can't reasonably be condensed into 9 properties. Instead, think of the tool as a captivating aerator of market offerings, or as a starting point for further research. It will give you an idea of what you might get for your money.
