The breathtaking style chaos of Tbilisi's cool kids
The capital of Georgia, Tbilisi, is known for its unique street style, which can be described as careless, diverse and full of fantasy, just like the city itself.
After four years of pandemic, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi returned last week, holding its first event since November 2019. The organizers found a new permanent location for the fashion week - the old Coca-Cola factory, located in an industrial zone in the city center.
Although the program was slightly shortened compared to previous seasons, there was a lot of interesting stuff on the runway: from God Era T-shirts inspired by Dazed magazine, to couture outfits by Aka Prodiashvili, clubwear by Berhasm and outstanding menswear by Irakli Rusadze.
On the streets of Tbilisi, these brands are reflected among creative young people who favor local Georgian brands, mixing them with vintage clothing from boutique stores or flea market trade. Fitted suits and wide pants were everywhere to be seen, as well as plaid skirts paired with white knee-high stockings or jeans and shabby T-shirts.
MBFW Tbilisi captivates with its chaotic but charming spirit of amateurism and community that sets it apart from other fashion weeks around the world.
