An earthquake at Donald Trump's golf course is triggering a flood of jokes and memes.

Donald Trump became the target of a wave of jokes and memes on social media after it was revealed that the epicenter of the 4.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the tri-state area of New York on Friday was located right next to his National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the epicenter of the earthquake was near Whitehouse Station in New Jersey, less than 7 miles from the former president's golf course. The federal agency reported that the earthquake occurred at 10:23 AM Eastern Time. According to New York officials, there were no reports of casualties or "significant damage" from the earthquake.

Users on X, formerly Twitter, focused on the proximity of the earthquake's epicenter to one of the most valuable assets in Trump's business empire, unleashing a wave of mockery.

Newsweek reached out to Trump's National Golf Club in Bedminster for comment via an online request. Jim Drumheller, an X user from New Jersey, joked: "Maybe Trump was back in Bedminster selling Bibles again, and God got tired of it." Trump faced criticism from some Christians after promoting the sale of the "Bible God Bless the USA" for $59.99 ahead of Easter.

Another user X from New Jersey wrote: "The epicenter of the #earthquake was near Bedminster. We're sure it wasn't Trump throwing a tantrum over how many defeats he's recently suffered?" The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump conservative group, posted a photo of the former president on the helicopter steps, adding: "New York: it's not an earthquake, it's just Trump landing in Bedminster for the weekend."

In March, Trump became the Republican Party's candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

In preparation for a repeat meeting with Joe Biden from 2020, attention has been drawn to the differences in policy and personality between the two rivals, especially as Trump faces four upcoming criminal trials. He categorically denies any wrongdoing.
