Savannah Chrisley revealed that both of her parents, who are currently behind bars for tax fraud, are teaching classes in order to speed up their release from prison. In an episode of her podcast "Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley" on October3rd, the26-year-old said that her father,54-year-old Todd Chrisley, and mother,50-year-old Julie Chrisley, received credits for completing courses at their institutions and are now teaching classes themselves to shorten their sentences under the First Step Act. Savannah explained that it was this very action that allowed her parents to recently move up their release dates from prison.

"Dad, of course, also teaches some lessons."

Savanna said in the podcast about her father, who is serving time in the Federal Prison Camp in Pensacola, Florida. "One of them is traumatology," she talked about the lessons he teaches. "I think another one is a finance class, which is ironic," she added.

As for Julie

In the Federal Prison in Lexington, Kentucky, Savannah said that her mom "is definitely teaching lessons, for example, she teaches a real estate class, she has all these certificates for teaching and completing courses. Julie is always striving for success."

Todd and Julie were imprisoned in January 2023 to serve a joint sentence of 19 years for tax fraud. Initially, Todd's release date was set for 2035, while Julie's was set for 2030.

Last month, the reality stars managed to reduce their original sentences by more than a year. Now, Todd will be released from prison on January 22, 2033, and Julie on October 19, 2028.

The Chrisley parents, who raised three children, still deny their guilt in the tax fraud case and are trying to appeal their case. "There is hope," said Todd and Julie's attorney, Jay Sargent, to People magazine about the possibility of filing an appeal. "There is always hope, but I believe they have serious grounds for an appeal," he added.

Before Todd and Julie went to prison, a source from the Chrisley family told HollywoodLife that the couple had an "emotional" farewell with their loved ones. "There were a lot of tears, and no one knew what to say because nothing could change the situation," the source said. "Todd and Julie knew they had no options left, and that was it."
