Learning the requirements for Italian citizenship
Requirements
Residency and language requirements
The main requirement for obtaining Italian citizenship is continuous residence in the country for at least ten years. In addition, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the Italian language by passing an official language test administered by the Ministry of the Interior (Ministero dell'interno).
Family ties to Italy
Individuals may also obtain Italian citizenship through family ties if they have an ancestor who was born in Italy and/or was an Italian citizen at any point in his or her life. Applicants must prove direct descent from this ancestor and provide proof of kinship.

Naturalization process
To complete the application process for naturalization as an Italian citizen, applicants must submit all required documents, including proof of residence, language certificate, birth certificate (if applicable), marriage certificate (if applicable) and any other required documents specified by local authorities or consulates. A fee may be charged depending on the applicant's circumstances. Once all documents have been submitted and approved by the local authorities or consulates, applicants will receive a certificate that will allow them to participate in the naturalization ceremony known as "ius soli", where they officially become Italian citizens with all the rights that this entails!
Renunciation of another nationality
In order to fully acquire Italian citizenship through the naturalization process, it is necessary for applicants to renounce any other citizenship they may hold before completing the naturalization ceremony. This also applies to dual citizenship, as it is not permitted by the current legislation established by the Italian governmental body in charge of immigration, the Ministry of the Interior (Ministero dell'interno).
Conclusion
In conclusion, in order to obtain Italian citizenship, certain criteria must be met, such as residence in Italy for a minimum number of years (usually ten), passing a language test administered by the Ministry of the Interior, demonstrating direct family ties if possible, submitting all the necessary documents and paying the relevant fees, renouncing any existing citizenship until the ius soli ceremony is completed and, finally, obtaining the status of full citizen with the relevant rights.
