General description of Abruzzo

This article is based on the book Residence Guide 2014. Don't miss the opportunity to ask your questions at the spring foreignreal estate shows! I want to share information about my favorite region of Italy - Abruzzo! This charming corner is located in the central part of the country, if you look at a map - just to the right ofRome. Compared to other regions, Abruzzo has a small area, and its main city of Pescara has only a little over a hundred thousand inhabitants.

Agriculture and tourism

Abruzzo is famous for its agricultural tradition and rich natural resources. Although the region has all the necessary conditions for the development of tourism, it has only cautiously opened up to the world in the past. Nevertheless, it has considerable potential for the development of tourism infrastructure.

Beaches and resorts

Local beaches impress with their splendor, vast size and golden sand. Many resorts in the region have repeatedly been awarded the Blue Flag. This place is increasingly attracting tourists from the UK, Germany and Northern Europe, and Russians, who were previously less frequently spotted here, have begun to rediscover the delights of the region.

Reasons to choose Abruzzo for life

Why should Abruzzo be considered for permanent residence? This region offers a wide range of opportunities to achieve all your life goals. For example, for retirees, this place is ideal. Americans have long labeled Abruzzo as one of the best regions for retirement living because of its comfortable climate, affordable prices, and high level of services.

  • Low cancer ratesIt has one of the lowest rates of cancer in Italy.
  • Longevity: The region is characterized by a high percentage of long-livers.

Convenience for young people

Young people should also consider the proximity toRome; it only takes two hours to reach the capital. Many working people and students regularly travel to the capital. The interconnected transport links make it possible for active residents to have excellent travel conditions throughout Europe.

Entertainment at any time of the year

At any time of the year, there is plenty to do here. The summer months offer the opportunity to enjoy clear sea waters and magnificent beaches, while in winter you can go skiing or relax in thermal spas.

Housing prices

Prices should not be forgotten. In Abruzzo they are among the lowest in the country, including the cost of housing. Here it is quite realistic to buy an apartment near the sea for up to 100 thousand euros, and for 1 thousand euros a month you can live very comfortably.

  • In small towns you can find housing even for 50 thousand euros.
  • Often for a million rubles you can buy quite affordable housing, although most likely it will be away from the coast and major cities.

The important thing is that you have a wide range of choices and you will be able to find something that is right for you.

Prices for townhouses in Italy

In Italy, the cost of townhouses varies from €80,000 to €300,000. Prices depend on many factors, including location, area, remoteness from the sea coast and the condition of the real estate itself. Russians are increasingly interested in buying such properties on the Italian coast, which has a significant impact on prices.

It is sometimes extremely difficult to convince our compatriots that a successful purchase can be just 5-10 kilometers from the sea. This is due to their consumer preferences. Italians, unlike Russians, prefer to buy houses in mountainous areas, where the climate is more comfortable than on the coast. Russians are only beginning to realize how many advantages housing in such secluded places can offer.

Preference for new buildings

Among Russians there is a particular attraction to new construction projects. The choice in favor of old buildings, despite their high quality, is often questionable. More often than not, Russians choose modern apartments on the coast, which were built in the last five years. These apartments stand out for their quality of finishing and design, and their price starts from €200 thousand, which corresponds to a range of €2-2.5 thousand per square meter.

Finding an option that would allow you to leave the apartment and immediately be on the beach, in this region is not so easy - there are not so many such offers. Most Italian resorts are promenades with hiking trails, cozy beaches and easy roads separated by green areas.

Apartment prices

When it comes to price, a €300-350k apartment will be in a prestigious neighborhood with high construction standards and energy-saving technology. This information is important because energy costs in Italy are quite high. Using heaters as locals often do - in two steps in the morning and in the evening - will help to reduce costs. Otherwise, if the heating runs continuously, bills can increase significantly.

Opportunities to purchase villas

In the range of €150 to €300 thousand you can buyreal estate, which is often called a villa.

Of course, it does not necessarily have to be a dwelling by the sea, but with an attached plot of land. Interestingly, the area of land in this case does not always affect the total cost, as agricultural land in the region is inexpensive, and the main role is played by the building itself.

Results

In conclusion, it is worth noting that the market offers many options. Affordable apartments may seem attractive, but many people are looking for better quality options, which, accordingly, cost considerably more.

Uniqueness of the Abruzzo region

When it comes to the Abruzzo region, its uniqueness lies in the diversity of its offerings. While other Italian regions boast their own advantages, it is in Abruzzo, as in Greece, that all the aspects that may interest buyers are present.

  • Italy's greenest region:Abruzzo is considered the greenest region in Italy, with four national parks offering beautiful landscapes of unspoiled nature.
  • Popularity among residents of big cities:It is not for nothing that residents of large cities such asMilan andRome seek to buyreal estate here for vacation. The local beaches are recognized as some of the best in the country.
  • Great Opportunities:Additional factors also emphasize the tremendous opportunity and potential of this region.

Abruzzo is definitely a place worth visiting and thoroughly exploring to find an appealing accommodation option that can offer numerous opportunities.

Why choose Abruzzo for living and vacationing in Italy?

Winter vacations in Abruzzo

It has been mentioned before that Abruzzo will be a wonderful choice for winter sports enthusiasts. This region is home to magnificent ski resorts that are easily accessible year-round and in various weather conditions.

Ancient Italy

It is important to emphasize that Abruzzo is renowned among Russians as "ancient Italy." This region stands out not only for its long history but also for archaeological finds dating back to prehistoric cultures, as well as architectural monuments that were built during the days of the Roman Empire's power. Many local towns adorn the list of the most picturesque corners of Italy.

Convenient travels

It's nice to note that traveling through Italy and all of Europe from Abruzzo is extremely convenient and comfortable.

Restaurants in the region

As for the restaurants in this region, they can truly surprise you. The other day, while walking with my daughter in Silvi, I had a strong craving to try the fish and seafood that are cooked in a thin, crispy batter, known in Italy as“frittura di pesce”This dish is impossible to describe; you just have to try it!

Looking around, I noticed a small tavern. As I approached it, I saw an elderly man at the entrance. He looked like a typical Italian, seemingly lost in contemplation of the surrounding landscape. I asked him if it was possible to have lunch at their establishment. Although it wasn't lunchtime yet, he paused, looked at his watch, then back at me, and said with a philosophical expression, "Yes, but we need time to prepare...". I pondered his words and asked if it was possible to make the dish I had been dreaming of. He called out loudly to someone inside, "Papa, can we make a fritto for the lady?"

An even older man appeared at the door with large hairy arms, a towel over his shoulder, and a frying pan in his hands: "Yes, it's possible, but we'll need a little time. Please, go for a walk for about ten minutes."

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about whether he could prepare the dish without burning it or making the batter too dry. My concerns turned out to be unfounded. When we returned and saw large plates in front of us with golden pieces of fish, it became clear: we had never tasted anything like this anywhere else! That's the story: a humble diner, but true culinary wonders!

The bill for lunch

As for the bill, it amounted to just€25for two, including dessert!

Business in Abruzzo

Now let's move on to the topic of business. To be honest, Russians are not very eager to come to this region to start their own business. Of course, one can move and live as a landlord, and with the right approach, even make a profit from it, but this requires conducting an analysis of the local market. In most cases, this approach can become a good source of additional income.

To start a business in Italy, it is necessary to:

  • Study the tax system
  • Consult with a consultant who has sufficient knowledge in this area.

Most Italians prefer the second option, hiring a specialist known as“commercialist”for which, of course, you will have to pay.

Conclusion on the uniqueness of Abruzzo

In conclusion to my story about the unique region of Italy — Abruzzo, I would like to summarize and share my impressions. This land captivates with its diversity and harmonious combination of various opportunities for living, leisure, and work. Here, you can enjoy stunning beaches, picturesque mountain landscapes, and unique historical landmarks. Small in size but rich in experiences, Abruzzo offers its residents a comfortable life, allowing them to realize any ideas and dreams.

Advantages of living in Abruzzo

I am convinced that factors such as low real estate prices and the standard of living make this region particularly attractive to residents of other countries, especially Russians who are seeking solitude away from the hustle and bustle and a connection to nature. Abruzzo is not only a place for a peaceful retirement but also an ideal launching pad for a truly active and fulfilling phase of life.

  • Proximity toRome, which allows one to enjoy the cultural life of the capital.
  • Wonderful conditions for a healthy lifestyle and a long life.
  • Availability of natural resources and outdoor activities, including ski resorts and beaches.

Conclusion

In summary, I can confidently say that life in Abruzzo is a choice for health, comfort, and happiness. If you are looking for a place that will offer you all of this, don't hesitate to consider Abruzzo as your potential new home. Here you will find all the necessary conditions for living, suitable for any style and life philosophy. I wish you good luck in finding your perfect corner in this wonderful land!
