50 Scary Places of Attraction Across America

50 Страшных Мест Привлекательности по Всей Америке

Fall is a chance to cozy up at home for some people, but for horror fans it's a time to get the adrenaline going. Few things can compare to visiting scary houses, mazes, or wagon rides during Halloween. If you want to experience the horror of an actor in a clown mask in October, there are plenty of places to do so in the United States. Whether they're in a theme park or a historic prison, here are the scariest places in all 50 states.

Location:Heflin, Alabama

Haunted Chicken House deserves an award for most original concept. According to legend, a farmer named Dan imported genetically altered roosters into his farm in 2003 to increase profits. The birds have mutated into violent monsters, and Chiken Dan has hired an army of assassins and monsters to help him deal with them. The result is one of the strangest and creepiest places in Alabama. After walking through the Haunted Chicken House itself, visitors can take a ghostly ride in a cart or on the Crazy Train bus. Tickets are on sale for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout October.

Location:Anchorage, Alaska

Fright Nite has been scaring its visitors for more than 30 years. Each year they offer new actors, costumes, sound effects, and themes. And of course, there are sinister clowns.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

The spooky 13th floor of Phoenix offers four different attractions with creepy twists. You may find yourself cruelly condemned by an evil nun with sinister intentions, enchanted by evil spirits from the depths of the sea, or hunt zombies infected with a global virus (a little early, folks!). There is also an interactive maze that takes place in total darkness. If you think you can handle it, the 13th floor is open through Nov. 4.

Location:North Little Rock, Arkansas

The Reaper Haunted House, which has been scaring Arkansas residents since 2011, promises to shock its guests with more than 30 scenes of "blood, horror and mayhem." The horrifying paintings continue through Nov. 1.

Location:Buena Park, California

Knott's Berry Farm transforms into Knott's Scary Farm during Halloween. This theme park in Southern California is celebrating 50 years of horror this year.

During certain nights through October 31, the park is filled with terrifying creatures. In addition to 10 unique abandoned mazes, the event offers five horror areas and four spooky live shows. During a break between scares, guests can relax with themed treats such as a killer breakfast funnel cake or spookghetti cake. Tickets for 2023 are available now and start at $60.

Location:Westwood, Colorado

Frightmare Compound is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2023 and has no intention of resting on its laurels. In addition to the legendary "bloody" house haunted by bloodthirsty ghosts, Frightmare Compound also features a monster museum and a coffin simulator that replicates the feeling of being walled up alive. If your heart can take it, there are also mini escape rooms where you must find a way to survive. The attractions will open Sept. 15 and run through Nov. 4.

Location: Wallingford, Connecticut

Trail of Terror in Connecticut is an unusual walk through the woods. Here, visitors will encounter monsters and horrors for about an hour. The cast team, even though they are volunteers, are still great at getting your heart rate up. Trail of Terror is open Friday through Sunday from September 30 through October 29.

Location:Middletown, Delaware

Frightland, which has been around for 27 years, boasts eight separate attractions: Horror Hayride, Haunted Barn, Idalia Manor, Fear, Ravenwood Cemetery, The Attic, Ghost Town and Zombie Prison. They are spread over about 1,800 acres and are connected by a fictional story. The main character's father, Dr. Thaddeus Idalia, went insane after the death of his daughter and devoted his life to trying to bring the dead back to life. Now the victims of his horrific and failed experiments have taken over his estate, not far from where his father committed his atrocities.
