The lawyer claims Fotis Doulos received Greek assistance to defend himself against criminal prosecution in his father-in-law's inheritance case.

The lawyer representing the estate of Fotis Dulos' father said he believes the costs of his criminal defense are covered by someone in Greece.

Fotis Dulos is facing a lawsuit from the estate of Hilliard Farber over millions in unpaid loans that helped his construction company Fore Group, known for its luxury homes in the Farmington area and parts of Fairfield County.

The lawsuit involves Doulos' allegedly fake finances in connection with criminal charges in connection with the disappearance of his estranged wife, Jennifer Farber Doulos, in late May.

Hilliard Farber and the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Doulos

Hilliard Farber was a former senior vice president at Chase Manhattan Bank who then created his own brokerage firm, Hilliard Farber & Co.

Records show that Farber clearly supported Dulos' developments until his death.

The issue of criminal defense fees

The attorney representing the estate, Richard P. Weinstein, wants to know how Doulos is paying for his criminal defense, which includes attorney Norm Pattis and famed detective Patrick McKenna.

Doulos was supposed to produce records related to his attorneys' fees during last week's deposition, but his attorneys objected, citing the privilege of those records.

In a response filed last week in response to an objection by Dulos' attorneys, Weinstein said records related to Dulos' criminal defense payment should be produced and are not privileged.

Weinstein said the money is believed to be coming from Greece and being funneled through a New York attorney.

The criminal case and charges in the disappearance of Jennifer Farber Doulos

Doulos, 51, faces charges of tampering with evidence and obstruction of prosecution.

Investigators said a man matching Doulos' description was seen dumping bags along Albany Avenue in Hartford the night Farber Doulos disappeared, court records show.

Investigators found some of the bags that had Farber Doulos' blood on them, arrest records show.

Doulos pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains free on $500,000 bail.

Custody battle and financial problems

In a response filed last Thursday, Weinstein alsoFrankly, I am concerned about your financial situation and the possibility of successfully completing a project of this magnitude given the upheaval in your personal life.
