Actor Giton Grantly will rent out his home in Italy for a 12-month trip - realestate.com.au

Actor and comedian Giton Grantley is giving renters the opportunity to live in his family's home in the town of Ivanhoe as if they were Lodge Award winners. The Underground series star, his wife Alex and their three children will soon head to Italy, where they plan to live for 12 months. Their three-bedroom home will be rented out for that period and will become available starting in late July for $3,200 a month, plus a security deposit.

In addition to his role as convicted murderer and drug dealer Carl Williams in "Underground," "Fat Tony & Co." and "Informant 3838," Grantley has starred in "Housewives," "East-West 101," "In the House," "All Saints" and other series. Other roles include Ron Weasley in the Melbourne production of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and Barney McSweeney in Kate Winslet's "The Sewing Girl".

Grantley, who won the 2009 Logie Award for most outstanding actor, said the prospect of moving to Europe for a year is very daunting but a long-held dream for his family. He also plans to continue acting abroad and making videos for his Instagram and TikTok accounts @gytongrantley to share international cuisine and lifestyle with his thousands of followers.

His interest in cooking was sparked when residents on their street began hosting communal meals outside when Covid-19 quarantine rules in 2020 allowed.

Neighbors pulled 50 countries out of a jar to choose the week's theme, and now these lunches have become a Sunday tradition for the "incredible little community".

Geaton Grantly described the location of the town house in Ivanhoe near Darebin Park, Fairfield Boathouse, the Yarra River, Alphington train station and the "lovely" stores on Upper Heidelberg Rd as "very peaceful". "We are next to the Darebin Creek, we have a view of eucalyptus trees and cucabarras sitting on them," he said. "It's practically our little corner of the wilderness 20 minutes from the city. "The upstairs and downstairs have two large balconies, floors that get lots of sunlight and are oriented to the northwest. "In the spring and summer, it's a great place to relax on a hammock and read a book. "
