Antinori in Chianti Classico is the most beautiful wine palace in the world
Italy is the most beautiful country in the world. For its cities of art and its landscapes, often decorated with vineyards. And now also for their wineries. Because the monumental and highly visited Antinori winery in Schianti Classico, an architectural masterpiece created by Marco Casamonti for the Antinori family, one of the most important names in the world of wine, has taken the first place in the ranking of the "World's Best Wineries 2022", announced in Mendoza, Argentina, in these hours.
An absolute victory for Italy and one of its wine symbols, located in Chianti Classico, one of the most undisturbed and beautiful wine areas in the world. "This is a very gratifying result for us," Antinori CEO Renzo Cotarella commented to WineNews. "It's the result of years of hard work, because in this world nobody gives you anything, and that's good because it helps you not to be in a rush beforehand. This award is not only for Antinori, but for the whole of Italy and Schianti Classico, which gives us great pleasure because we created this winery in difficult times such as the financial crisis of 2008, and it is another tangible sign of the Antinori family's ability to think about the future and transcend time.

But Antinori's triumph for Italy is also accompanied by the winery that has risen the most positions since 2021, namely Ferrari Trento, the leader of the Trentodoc, the Lunelli family's Trentodoc, which climbed from 61st place to 11th. The top 50 also includes another leading Italian winery, namely Sicily's Donnafugata, led by Antonio and Jose Rallo, a new entrant at 45th position. The 2022 Top 100 ranking thus features 9 wineries, among which Antinori, Ferrari and Donnafugata join the already announced Ceretto and Gaja, symbols of Piedmontese wine, which have risen to positions 62 and 65 respectively compared to the 2021 results, as well as with the new participation of brands such as Villa Sandi, in 70th place, Tenuta Cavalier Pepe in 74th place, Marchesi di Barolo in 90th place and Tenuta San Leonardo in 97th place.
The ranking, which sees Spanish winery Bodegas de los Herederos by Marqués de Riscal in second place and Chile's Montes in third place on the podium (while the 2021 winner, Zuccardi Valle de Uco, in Argentina, right in Mendoza, was recognized by the "Hall of Fame" as the World's Best Winery), confirms that Italy remains at the top of the wine world, not only for its quality and diversity of production, but also for its magnificent beauty, from Trentino Alto Adige to Sicily.
