A new rope park will appear in the woods on the territory of the popular tourist attraction Bristol. The Adventure Bristol company wants to build a high rope park on the land of the Ashton Court estate, in front of the Summerhouse plantation. As stated in the planning documents presented to the North Somerset Council, the company was awarded a contract by the Bristol City Council for the development and construction of the rope park.

"It is expected that the park will be open daily throughout the year and will be available for the general public to visit. However, visitors will have to register online or at the reception and pay for admission. In2017, information emerged that the city council was considering the possibility of building a Go Ape rope park in Ashton Court. Go Ape is a company that manages rope parks and has35 locations throughout the United Kingdom. However, Adventure Bristol now plans to build its park on this site if its plans are approved."

The park will include two small training grounds, as well as five other rope courses of varying difficulty. In total, there will be45 challenges on the courses, including five lines of maximum speed and some lines between trees. Children aged6 and older will be able to complete the first two courses, while the rest are designed for children aged10 and older accompanied by adults.

As stated in the planning and access statement, the park will be accessible via existing paths from various entrances at Ashton Court and parking areas on the site. The document states that the park site will be located in the woods more than300 meters from Ashton Court mansion and therefore "will not be visible or audible to visitors coming to the mansion."

According to the company, during the construction of the park, there are no plans to "remove mature and healthy trees," and any tree that is removed for safety reasons will remain in the forest to attract insects. Although no exact opening date has been reported yet, as the construction of the facility depends on council approval, the company estimates that the construction will take about three months. For the past seven years, Adventure Bristol has managed a similar facility in the Wild Place Project on Blackhorse Hill. In addition to zip lines, they also hope to organize other activities in Ashton Court, such as bubble football and archery.

Opinions about the plans are divided among local residents - 26 people left comments on the council's planning website, of which 21 supported the project, while 5 expressed objections. One commenter said that the cable parks would be a wonderful addition to the surrounding area, writing: "The cable park will be a great opportunity for my family.

My kids and most of their friends love them. They visit indoor climbing walls, but they much prefer outdoor cable parks. We have been to them many times on vacation in France, but such parks are much rarer in the UK. So it would be great to have something like this in the area."

However, another commentator stated that this could disturb the tranquility of the forest. He wrote: "The forest is perfect as it is. They plan to build a cable park in the secret forest near the red deer. I love this forest because it is always so peaceful, and it feels separate from everything else. In spring, daffodils and anemones bloom here, it's beautiful, and they are turning everything into an entertainment venue, just like a golf course or disc golf. Why can't the forest just be a forest? It is already beautiful. Please, don't touch it."
