Beaconsfield: unique castle-style manor house standing 143 years old will set a record for suburbs - realestate.com.au
A historic castle-like estate in Beaconsfield is up for sale. The Holm Park estate at 180 Holm Park Rd, built in 1879 by local financier George Ramsden, will break the record for house prices in this suburb as soon as it comes on the market. This Italianate mansion, which occupies two 16.19 hectares of land, includes five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a swimming pool, tennis court, stables and manicured gardens.
Historical records show that Mr. Ramsden and his father Samuel were influential 19th century industrialists and respected in Melbourne. The sprawling estate was later purchased by the Armitidge family, also known for the family that owned the famous Como House in South Yarra.
According to Peake Real Estate director Sarah James, no other property comes close to the significance of Holm Park Estate.

Selling co-agent Syarif Machfud said potential buyers would be impressed by the elegance and historical significance of the house. Inside, patterned period details such as graceful rattles, four-foot-high ceilings, grand arches and chandeliers have been preserved.
The first floor features formal and informal living rooms, dining room and kitchen, billiard or game room, office, two bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room. On the second floor there is a spacious 4 by 7 meter main unit with a bathroom, walk-in closet and balcony. There are also two additional rooms on this level.
According to estate agent Sarah James, the estate has already attracted interest from local and international buyers in the weeks since it was put up for sale. This property is priced between $11 million and $12 million, which will likely set a new record for home prices in Beaconsfield.
