More and more Italians are moving from the cities to the provinces, as real estate prices there are much lower. According to the study Idealista.it, a list of communes located near metropolitan areas, where the cost of housing is more affordable and real estate investment is profitable. The study notes that provinces in both the north and the south can offer affordable housing prices.

The first place on the list was the commune of Perosa Argentina in the metropolis of Turin

where the average price per square meter is 498 euros. It is followed by the municipality of Palagonia in the province of Catania with an average price of 549 euros per square meter.

In fourth and fifth place are Pont Canavese in the metropolitan area of Turin with a price of 554 euros per''square meter and Cittanova in the province of Reggio Calabria with a price of 583 euros per square meter.

  • Caccamo and Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, both on the island of Sicily

The cost of housing in these communes ranges from 609 to 621 euros per square meter. In the last ten is Bronte, in the province of Catania, where the cost of housing averages 624 euros per square meter.
