George and Amal Clooney are leaving their $25 million mansion in Oxfordshire for a magnificent secluded estate in France.

In the charming village of Berkshire, nestled by the River Thames, the absence of George Clooney and his wife Amal has become the talk of the town. The famous 62-year-old actor and the talented 46-year-old lawyer have reportedly traded their luxurious estate in Oxfordshire for the warm embrace of Southern France, leaving behind a mansion with a sunken garden to start a new chapter under the sun of Provence.

For months, Clooney and his two children have been absent from this idyllic English village, sparking speculation among the locals. Their vast property has faced the fierce rains of Britain, suffering two floods in the past year. As the Thames has repeatedly overflowed, their once green backyard is now underwater.

Helen MooreA long-time resident of the village fondly recalls the times when George would visit regularly. "He used to be seen here quite often," Helen noted in a conversation with the Daily Mail. "It was common to see him with Amal and the kids. But lately, they have been seen less frequently. But it's hard to blame them. The weather has been terrible, and the floods have shaken everyone, especially their home."

Wendy BoonertHaving lived here for two decades, she supported this opinion. "This place is undoubtedly beautiful," Wendy stated, "but the endless rain has tested us all. I understand why George decided to seek warmth somewhere else.

Even though this area is attractive to wealthy people, lovers have to return. For now, France is probably the best choice."

With local temperatures ranging from 4°C to 8°C and rain in the forecast, it seems unlikely that Clooney will be appearing at his property surrounded by the Thames anytime soon. The river itself has risen to a threatening 12 feet, prompting flood warnings and causing significant disruptions, including the temporary closure of the bridge leading to Clooney's estate.

Despite being rarely seen in France, the couple actually bought their French home, Domaine Le Canadel, a magical and spacious estate in Provence covering 425 acres for a striking $8.3 million.

Jessica SherrettA local resident who often walks her dog by the river shares the community's concerns. "Floods have become more frequent and severe, disrupting our routines," she said. "George's place may be lovely, but it's not where you'd want to be during such floods. If moving is an option, it's a sensible choice, especially considering the safety of the children."

In bright contrast, the French paradise of Cluny, Domaine Le Canadel, is basking in a mild 17°C with a low chance of rain. Amal was recently spotted there with Nelson, a St. Bernard puppy, celebrating her 46th birthday from George. Their French estate, a magnificent 18th-century mansion set among 25 acres of vineyards, features a pool, a tennis court, and lush gardens, purchased for £6.5 million in 2021.

If the weather turns bad in Provence, the family will have the option to move to their retreat in Lago Como, Italy, which was purchased in 2002 and is now worth around £80 million.

However, the British weather was not so kind to the updated water they purchased in the UK in 2014, which suffered from flooding despite extensive renovations. The estate, complete with its own boat station, gym, spa, and cinema, successfully dealt with the flood damage in the outdoor areas but remained structurally sound.

Initially, Clooney faced flooding in January 2023, followed by Storm Christoph and Storm Dennis, which threatened their property in 2021 and 2020.
