Romantic rumors about Turner and Pearson surfaced two months after Jo''Jonas filed for divorce. The divorce petition, filed in October 2023, stated that "the marriage between the parties is unreconcilable." At the time, a source told People magazine that the divorce was not a "surprise" to the people around them and that they had already been living apart for months. They also noted that they had a prenuptial agreement. The children have been with Joe for the past few months, traveling with him and his family on tour while Sophie worked in the UK.
The day after filing for divorce, the couple released a joint statement on Instagram, saying that "after four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to end it amicably." They also asked that their desire for privacy' be honored'for themselves and their children.
In early October, after reaching a temporary custody agreement for their two daughters, Willa (3 years old) and Delphine (15 months old), the former couple released another joint statement. It stated that "After a productive and successful time together, we have agreed that the children will spend an equal amount of time with loving families in both the US and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents.".
