GASPI finds drugs in jeans sent to Cyprus.
The National Agency for Law and Drug Control (NALDC) has foiled attempts by drug cartels to export hard drugs hidden in the hems of denim pants or concealed in dolls, buttons, soap cubes and beverage cans. The drugs included methamphetamine, tramadol and other psychoactive substances destined for export through courier firms from Lagos to countries in Europe, the United Arab Emirates and Asia.
On one shipment, drugs were hidden in the hems of new denim pants bound for Cyprus; a shipment of ganja hidden in dolls' heads was destined for Dubai, UAE; sachets of tramadol were buried in jars''drinks and in local soap destined for the UAE; and a cargo of methamphetamine concealed in buttons was bound for Hong Kong,' Mr. Babafemi said."
The NASS officers traced the consignee, Daniel Ogie, to Ajao Estate, Lagos, and arrested him on Friday, November 24," Mr. Babafemi said. He also added that on December 1, NASS agents apprehended a drug lord, Okechukwu Ogala (56), who specializes in exploiting and recruiting young Nigerians to export methamphetamine to Asian countries.
Babafemi also disclosed that as at December 1, NASS officials had seized 393 kilograms of ganja from a store in Akala, Mushin. The NABPN spokesperson also added that the suspect''Justin Enuonye, who deals in Canadian Loud, was arrested by police officers in Victoria Island. He was handed over to the NAZBN in Lagos State on the same day along with 154 bags of the substance weighing 92 kilograms. A team of NAZBN officers also intercepted a vehicle at Oingbo area of Lagos and seized 108kg of ganja. In another raid, the officers also seized 675kg of ganja from the store of the sought dealer, Wahab Olota, in Adedoja area of Lagos.
