The Serbian diaspora has recently taken a significant share in the sale of real estate in our country.

Serbs living abroad are currently most interested in new buildings in certain parts of the capital and on the mountains. Our compatriots who have been living and working abroad for a long time are buying real estate to support themselves when they return to Serbia, and also increasingly because of renting out apartments or houses, which is a very lucrative business. In the list of places that interest our compatriots from abroad, Belgrade is necessarily present, and interest is aroused by apartments that have just been built. Photo: Shutterstock

According to the portal 4zida,''The most sought-after apartments in new buildings and apartments on the mountains are on Zlatibor and Kopaonik, for which there are also the largest number of advertisements.

Besides these two mountains, potential diaspora buyers are increasingly interested in apartments in Divcibari, on Tara, and this type of real estate is also for sale in Vrnjačka Banja. Real estate agent Katarina Lazarevic explained where most often the diaspora buys apartments, some of which they then rent out. "There are two options - either come back here to live in retirement or buy real estate to rent. Most of them are from Canada," Lazarevic says. She notes that those who want to invest their spare cash look at what they can rent out at a good price, and usually choose an apartment in''a new building in Belgrade, as well as apartments in Kopaonik or real estate in Zlatibor, where it is possible to hire an agency to handle the renting instead. It is important that the apartment has a garage, and they are even willing to buy back the furniture if someone has already lived in the apartment. They choose apartments of 70 to 100 square meters.

Those who come back to live in Serbia want to settle where they used to live or in settlements where they know someone. In Belgrade, they mostly want to live in the center, in Vračar, where they have friends and where they can walk," explains Katarina Lazarevic. She says that those who come from Austria,'' she says. 'Germany and other European countries, mostly choose Šabac, Smederevo and Požarevac and the surrounding towns from which they left, while those who return to Vojvodina usually already have inherited houses which they renovate, rarely buying new properties. After buying real estate in their hometown, more are investing on the mountains. According to 4zida, the average price of apartments in new buildings in Zlatibor is 2,040 euros per square meter, and in Kopaonik approximately 1,982 euros per square meter. Aleksandra Mihajlovic, PR of 4zida, says that during the New Year and Christmas holidays, many Serbian citizens living abroad come to visit relatives and friends in their hometown, and it often happens that they offer to buy new''real estate. Agencies say they don't expect much interest this year, but they hope sales will be on par with previous years. Curir.rs/Nova Bonus video: 03:30 VISOKE CENE NECRETNINE MAЊE ZAINTERESTED FOR CUPOVINA!
