ACEACE is the representative organization of the architectural profession at European level. It comprises 51 member organizations representing the regulatory and professional bodies of all European Union member states, candidate countries, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Norway, and five observer members - Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, Montenegro and Macedonia. Through them, ACE represents the interests of more than half a million architects from 35 European countries.

ACE is currently negotiating with its British and Canadian counterparts for mutual recognition of architects as part of a broad agreement on''free trade between the EU and the UK, and between the EU and Canada. It is also actively involved in negotiations with the European Commission on various EU directives including energy efficiency in buildings, internal market services, public procurement, proportionality test and mutual recognition of professional qualifications. ACE is also the Commission's lead partner in the development and implementation of the New European Bauhaus program, which seeks to improve the quality of the built environment across the European Union to achieve greater sustainability.
