Freight transportation has set a new record in the real estate sector.
According to data collected from reports by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of workers employed in industry, construction, and the trade and services sector in the country reached 15 million 289 thousand 258 people in August.
If we take a closer look at the structure of this employment, we can notice an increase in the number of workers in the "real estate" sector. It has been noted that the number of paid employees in this sector has been steadily rising over the past 5 months.
In February, when the earthquakes occurred in Kahramanmaraş, the number of paid workers in this sector reached its lowest point of the year - 115,050 people. After the earthquakes, sector employment fluctuated for two months, but starting in April, it began to rise. Employment in the sector was 115,548 people in April, 118,663 in May, 119,540 in June, 121,724 in July, and in August it reached its historical maximum of 122,224 people.
After the earthquakes that affected 11 provinces, employment in the sector increased by 7,174 people.
Hakan Akdogan, the Head of the Real Estate Committee of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce
I noted that the increase in employment was also influenced by the rise in the number of foreignreal estate companies.
Akdogan emphasized that the transformation of real estate from a source of pension income into a profession chosen by many university graduates has a positive impact on employment in the sector. He also noted that young people in this industry work in various fields such as land development, investment consulting, property management, and project marketing.
Akdogan stated that the branding process in the industry will continue, and perspectives on real estate will keep changing. He said, "In our country, where more than 3 million properties are sold annually, the real estate market will always remain dynamic and continue to grow."
Akdogan also expressed his opinion on the need to combat informal employment in the industry and emphasized that effective functioning of disciplinary and control mechanisms is necessary to prevent unfair competition.
