Atlanta, Georgia is home to a historic mansion that deserves landmark status. The Bona Allen Mansion was built in 1911 by architect Haralson Bleckley. During the 20th century, it was home to the Bona Allen family, who founded the local tannery of the same name. In 2015, millionaire Steve Siebold and his wife Dawn purchased this charming mansion for use as the headquarters of their consulting firm. Now the Bona Allen Mansion is up for sale for the first time in decades with an asking price of $4 million.

In its 112-year history, the mansion has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated a National Historic Landmark. It's no wonder that famous guests such as Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft, country singer Gene Autry and the entire cast of the TV series Bonanza have crossed its threshold. Although the Seabolds bought the 9,000-square-foot mansion for their business, it was quickly transformed from an office to a private home during the pandemic. The couple made several improvements to the dwelling, including turning the carriage house into a 1,200-square-foot private gym, as well as adding a tennis court and replacing the roof.

"We tried to keep everything the way it was," Steve said. "We didn't want to disrupt the history."

Inside the mansion you will find magnificent original woodwork, from the floors to the grand staircase. A special place is occupied by the original wall fresco of Villa di Castello, a country house in Italy belonging to the Grand Duke ofTuscany, which adorns the two-story entrance hall. In all, there are a whopping 22 rooms in the main building, including a formal dining room, a billiards room, two video studios and a music room. "It's phenomenal," Steve added. "I just hope the new owner takes as good care of him as we have. It deserves special treatment, because it's a real landmark." The buyer search is being handled by Beth Mitchell of Atlanta Fine Homes Sotheby's International Realty.
