A woman from Kenya is involved in a conflict with the family of a deceased Italian tycoon over control of his inheritance worth2 billion Kenyan shillings in Malindi, Kilifi County.

** According to the Nation report, Giovanni Forino, who died in January2019, left an inheritance estimated at2 billion Kenyan shillings, including assets such as Twiga Resort in Watamu, real estate, vehicles, and funds in various accounts.

According to Caroline Wangui, she was married to Giovanni Forino, and together they have a child who is now seven years old. She claims that Forino set up a standing order in his company before his death to transfer her 35,000 Kenyan shillings monthly. "I state that my deceased husband took responsibility for our son. He established a standing order in his company (Gio-Fo Limited) in favor of our son for the amount of 35,231 Kenyan shillings per month," she said.

She claims that she currently needs at least 200,000 Kenyan shillings a month for her expenses, well-being, and her son's education.

However, the Forino family claims that Wangui had a child with another man, not with the tycoon.

Through her lawyer, Jacqueline Kimeto, they assert that the birth certificate presented by Wangui is fake. Kimeto told Nation that the family has applied for a DNA test for Wangui's son to determine if he is the biological son of the tycoon.

Inheritance issues are a topic of discussion and involve billions of dollars in court, as families dispute the wealth of their loved ones.

Recently, the senator's stepmother from Nakuru, Susan Kihika, Margaret Wambui, failed in her attempt to control the 600 million Kenyan shilling inheritance from her husband, former Nakuru North MP Dixon Kihika Kimani. The High Court replaced Wambui with her youngest daughter, Florence Nduta, as one of the estate administrators.

Other notable families that have found themselves in conflict over disputes regarding multi-billion dollar inheritances include former cabinet ministers Nyengu Karume, John Michuki, Mbuya Koynange, and others.
