Cyprus should establish a Truth Commission

Akhilleas Dimitriadis, son of former Lefkosha mayor Lellos Dimitriadis and one of the candidates for the presidency of Cyprus in 2023, said that a solution to the Cyprus problem would be beneficial for all residents of the island.

He also emphasized that everyone has a duty to leave their children a prosperous and safe Cyprus.

Dimitriadis noted that Lellos Dimitriadis was the mayor of Lefkosha for 30 years and together with Kyrenia Turkish Mayor Mustafa Akıncı implemented a project to build a joint sewage system.

Dimitriadis also said that Lefkosha suffers from division and that its future should be united.

In addition, he emphasized the importance of interaction between political and civil structures to achieve this goal.

Dimitriadis also expressed his hope to locate and identify missing people and noted that this is not only the right of relatives but also the responsibility of political leaders.

In conclusion, he emphasized that it is impossible to live in safety without peace in Cyprus and called for attention to be paid to establishing peace and stability for the sake of future generations.
