Bakan Ojaseki has completed the conversion of 2.2 million independent organizations across Turkey

Özhaseki, representing the ministry, said at the TBMM Planning and Budget Committee meeting that the fact that Turkey is a country of earthquakes should never go out of people's minds. He emphasized that Turkey ranks fifth among countries at risk of earthquakes on a line from the Alps to the Himalayas and said they continue to carry out works based on this reality.

He noted that 66% of Turkey's territory and 71% of its population are at risk of first- and second-degree earthquakes. He added that in the past century, the country has experienced 226 earthquakes of magnitude 6 or more. "We have experienced more than 60 earthquakes on the mainland, not counting those in the sea. We have lost 130,000 lives due to earthquakes in the last 100 years," he said.

He also noted that the February 6 Kahramanmarash earthquakes damaged 18 cities and affected 14 million people. He emphasized that the state was on the spot immediately after the first minute of the earthquake and pointed out that Kahramanmarash has been given the status of "disaster of the century". He also said that 680,000 residences and commercial spaces were damaged in the earthquakes. The comprehensive cost of the rebuilding effort was about $110 billion.

He noted that the construction of 200,000 housing units in the disaster zone is ongoing through TOKI, Emlak Konut and the General Directorate of Construction and that 46,000 housing units will be handed over by the end of the year. He also said that 240,000 applications had been submitted under the Local Transformation Project to build apartments.

He added that work to transform 400,000 independent units was ongoing and that it was also focusing on transforming town squares. He also expressed his concern over the inadequate performance of some local governments and emphasized that urban construction transformation is a complex process and that the seriousness of the situation in this area cannot be ignored.

He also said that TOKI is playing an important role in eliminating the housing problem and emphasized that they are striving for ecological transformation. He also reported on construction works in various regions of the country under the "My First Workplace" project.

He also stressed the importance of combating climate change and protecting the environment, noting that the Zero Waste Project is a flagship program in this area. He also noted that about 96 billion liras had been saved through the project and that approximately 432 million trees had been saved. He also mentioned that 1,209 sewage treatment plants have been built and work is underway to control air and sea pollution.
