After MIT's announcement that the sale of property to foreigners in northern Cyprus is under scrutiny, the topic has become a major issue in the North Cyprus parliament.

Foreign Affairs Minister Hakan Fidan said that since 2000 there have been around 200 applications to buy real estate from Israeli citizens and he pointed out that they rank 12th among other foreigners.

  • Third are sales contracts that are not''are registered at the registry office. It is alleged that the lands sold amount to more than one acre or one property, and no one knows exactly how much property was sold.

The split between Iranian visits last year and this year was 27,000 and over 35,000 respectively. The number of Israelis rose from 1,151 to 1,438.
