The Special State Prosecutor's Office has requested temporary seizure of multi-million euro property of the former honorary consul of Montenegro to the Netherlands, Lambertus Hubertus Leonardus Vos.

Although the SDT has not responded to questions about Vos for several months now, it is known from sources close to the investigation that the property of this Dutchman worth several million euros has been blocked in Montenegro.

"Dutch authorities suspect him of laundering money through real estate investments in Montenegro. Allegedly, this money came from his companies in Belgium and the Netherlands, which were under investigation by local authorities," an investigative source said.

The judicial authorities in Podgorica said that''In one case, an interim measure was imposed on the Dutchman, but it was lifted at the request of the state. 'In another case, an interim measure was determined at the request of the SDT to prohibit the alienation and encumbrance of real estate,' the court said.

The criminal case against Vos was opened in mid-2016, and the SDT said at the time that the case was at the inquest stage and was secret. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after the criminal case was filed, asked the government to relieve him of his post.

Following a government meeting on July 28, 2016, it was announced that they would request the Dutch authorities to revoke Vos' accreditation in accordance with standard procedures.

Dutch authorities accused Vos of evading payment of about 5''million euros in taxes related to real estate transactions through a company in Cyprus. Following his arrest and the start of the case, Vos' 60 buildings in the Netherlands and Germany, his artwork, jewelry, and expensive cars were confiscated.

The premises of his investment group, which also housed the honorary consul, were blocked by local police. The honorary consulat was located at the central office of the Vos investment group in Maastricht, at Sint Lumberslusan 6. He was appointed honorary consul of Montenegro in 2011. According to some reports, he first came to Montenegro back in 1995 and has been buying real estate here ever since.
