City hotels and buildings with history were of particular interest to the audience.

Graham Cooke, founder of the World Travel Awards, said it is already clear that the year promises to be a successful one for the global travel market. At the European ceremony in Berlin, the winners of the Best New Hotel category were announced, with the nominees including a host of openings over the past year that have raised standards in the industry. New openings in the luxury segment, as well as in city hotels and historic sites, attracted particular attention.

This year, hotels from Spain and Portugal had many nominations, as well as hotels from Italy, Greece and England. Among the nominees were such well-known brands as Marriott and Domes Resorts.

Of particular interest to the public were city hotels and hotels located in historic buildings. The winners were announced at a ceremony in Berlin this week: Best New Hotel - The Peninsula-London, Best New Boutique Hotel - Casa Palacio Don Ramón in Seville, Spain.
