The best wines for Thanksgiving meals

When it comes to what to drink for Thanksgiving, right now my advice is simple: forget about food and wine pairings. Forget about what wine goes with turkey (trust me, turkey goes perfectly with every wine on the planet). Forget about the question "Is my special rutabagas sauce as likely to go with Vermentino from Italy?" (Because rutabagas sauce is some weird exotic product). No, there is only one thing to consider when choosing wine for Thanksgiving, and that is that you will eat too much of everything and spend most of the day in a benign food coma. Therefore, what in the world would you drink heavy and full-bodied wine for? A 15.5% robust Napa cabernet and an oaky, buttery chardonnay?
