Mercedes-Benz introduces the new E-Class estate, and surprisingly, it is larger than before.
Mercedes has unveiled photos of its new technologically advanced sixth-generation E-Class station wagon. The car looks almost identical to its predecessor but features a more spacious trunk. Notable changes include new rear lights that incorporate the Mercedes logo. As we know, the current style of Mercedes is characterized by a certain restraint. However, it's the trunk that we came here for, so let's get right to the most interesting part. The new E-Class station wagon offers a colossal 615 liters of free space with the seats folded down and a massive 1830 liters with the seats down. Please, take our deposit right now. If you choose the PHEV version (which is an surprisingly practical option allowing for up to 62 miles on a single charge), you will lose a bit of space - 460/1675 liters. All this wonderful space can be accessed with the electric tailgate, which will be included as standard.
The new E-Class station wagon model has a wheelbase that is 22 mm longer than that of the previous fifth-generation model. According to Mercedes, the additional space in the rear of the vehicle is designed to provide greater comfort for rear passengers. An extra 28 mm in width creates additional elbow room. However, this does not mean that front passengers will feel uncomfortable - the E-Class station wagon is equipped with a new MBUX Superscreen, which allows the front seat passenger to watch movies or TV shows while on the move.
We are not saying that we have despaired of the state of the world, but the new E-Class estate is equipped with the functionality of third-party applications on the central touchscreen, allowing you to play Angry Birds, make Zoom video calls, or watch TikTok videos. There is even a front camera installed in the central part of the dashboard, which is part of the MBUX Superscreen. Oh, humanity. The specifications and model range for the UK market have not yet been confirmed, but the E-Class estate will be available with a 2.0-liter engine, a 2.0-liter diesel engine, or a petrol hybrid engine that uses the same 2.0-liter engine. The E200 model has a power output of 200 hp and accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, while the E220d model has 195 hp and reaches 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The E300e model combines all of this, producing 308 hp thanks to a 127-hp electric motor and has an impressive acceleration time to 100 km/h of 6.5 seconds. All standard models with diesel and petrol engines will be equipped with mild hybrid technology, and the E-Class estate will be available with a PHEV hybrid powertrain from launch. Mercedes says it will soon add a diesel hybrid powertrain, but who knows if it will appear in the UK. Do you have a trailer? The E-Class estate will be able to tow a trailer weighing up to 2100 kg. We do not know which engine has such power; you will just have to guess.
