Milyanich: In Montenegro there are over5,600 Ukrainian refugees.

Since the beginning of the Ukrainian crisis,8,333 Ukrainian citizens have arrived in Montenegro, of which2,667 have left, so currently there are5,666 Ukrainians in the country, stated Zoran Mićanović, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

He said on the "Morning" show on TVCG that most Ukrainian citizens are housed with friends and relatives, and there are also those who own property in Montenegro.

Milanic said that in recent days, the influx of refugees from Ukraine has decreased compared to earlier. "We haven't had a larger influx than in Bjelopolje, when a group of 31 refugees was accepted. They were accommodated in the Bieli Rada hotel, and we thank the owner and management for this humane step. We will take care of them and others who come, adhering to all international regulations," said Milanic.

He reminded that there are two reception centers in Montenegro: in Božaj and Spuž, which have 164 rooms for accommodation. According to him, since the beginning of the crisis, eight Ukrainians have been accommodated in the refugee center in Spuž. "In agreement with local authorities, if necessary, alternative accommodation for another 500 people is provided.

Such a scenario is not expected, as in recent days we have seen more departures from the country than arrivals," Miljanic said.

He added that there are already about two thousand Ukrainians living in Montenegro, either temporarily or permanently, so most of the refugees are accommodated with them. As Miljanic said, they need to register with tourist organizations and then with the police, obtain a tourist visa, but since the government has adopted a special decree, they can stay for up to a year.

"Currently, 761 applications for temporary protection have been submitted, the majority of which are from women and children. Most applications come from Bar, as well as from Budva, Tivat, and Podgorica, with about 30 applications from other areas," said Miljanic.

He emphasizes that this situation is not the same as the crisis with refugees from Syria or other Middle Eastern countries. "Therefore, we do not expect illegal border crossings, but we are also prepared for such cases," Miljanic said.
