Lack of tourism boom: Montenegrins disappointed by promises
The anticipated tourism boom that was supposed to lead to a true record summer season in 2023 is slowly crumbling. Instead of increasing the number of vacationers on the beaches, prices on the coast of Montenegro are rising for both services and accommodation. Economic analyst Oleg Filipovich believes that the main reason for the failed valuation and the desire for quick profits is the announcement of breaking the record. The price increase is late for this season where information dictates the season and we predicted it as the strongest and compared it to 2019, so there has been an unrealistic increase in hotel and non-hotel accommodation and restaurant food. It's a direct impact of the information that we're going to have the strongest season," said economic analyst Oleg Filipovic.
It's been a very short time from the strongest season to a season below expectations.
The National Tourism Organization says they don't have exact figures yet, but we still haven't jumped into a record-breaking 2019. On price indices, Montenegro has been rated as an affordable destination along with Turkey, although locally we are experiencing price increases. - It's clear that we are affordable for high-income guests, and the price increase has affected the decision to come or how much they will spend," said Ana Tripkovic-Markovic of the National Tourism Organization. Daily expenses are increasing and overnight stays are decreasing.

Problems have also arisen in Dubrovnik.
Expectations have not been met, but that is not a concern. - Will be a record, the main thing is behind us and we will not be able to reach the expected peak, especially in private accommodation, a little has been done to reduce prices, you can not play with the price," said the representative of the Association of restaurateurs Dubrovnik Dani Banovac. Not in Dubrovnik, but other cities in Croatia have started selling off unfilled accommodation at discounts of up to 50 percent. The optimism at the beginning of the Yadran story lifted the spirits of restaurateurs and landlords to raise prices, while some wiser ones passed well. The lesson is that he who seeks more loses, as RTCG notes.
