New promotion: move to Italy and earn 30,000 euros

A new promotion "Move to Italy and earn 30,000 euros" has been launched in Italy. The small sunny town in the south of the country is offering this amount to new residents if they move and settle there, as B92 writes.

The town of Presicce-Acquarica in Italy is known for its "green gold" - high-quality olive oil - but also for the fact that in a few years it will be empty.

Many rural areas are aging as young people leave for the cities or decide not to have children.

This is why the new campaign "Move to Italy and earn 30,000 euros" has been launched. Presicce-Acquarica has been struggling for years with a shrinking population and an increasing number of abandoned homes. In order to attract new residents, the local authorities have launched a promotion in which''give out grant money to people who buy a house and register as residents of the town.

Presicce-Acquarica, an area consisting of the two towns of Presicce and Acquarica del Capo, is located at the southern end of the Italian region of Puglia. As is the case with all rural areas, the population has migrated to the major cities in search of work. The area has been left almost completely empty.

Last year, the municipality launched a program to attract new homeowners with generous cash incentives. To qualify, individuals or families had to officially register and move there. They also had to invest money in the homes they move into, and all of them must have been built before 1991. That's about 30 percent of all properties in''city.
