Wild Turkey's new collaboration: an edition with the color of Jamaican rum.
Wild Turkey recently announced the release of its new brew Master'\''s Keep Voyage, created by Master Distiller Eddie Russell in collaboration with Dr. Joy Spence, Master Blender of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum.
A statement from Wild Turkey notes that this is a 10-year-old bourbon with an alcohol content of 106 proof that completed maturation in barrels used to age Jamaican rum. This is the first time rum barrels have been used in Wild Turkey's history. It will go on sale starting this month.
"Every year we look forward to releasing Master'\''s Keep to redefine what our bourbon can be," Eddie Russell said in a statement. "Creating Master'\''s Keep Voyage in collaboration with Dr. Joy Spence has been a true privilege, and I think our'''s shared passion for telling a story through our drinks is evident in this unique whisky'.
Master'\''s Keep Voyage reflects over 80 years of combined experience in creating spirits from this pair of distillers. Joy Spence personally selected the barrels from Appleton Estate's Jamaican rum distillery.
The barrels were delivered to Wild Turkey Distilling Co. in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, where Eddie Russell personally selected a batch of 10-year-old bourbon aged in Wild Turkey barrels with a quart roast. The bourbon was finished in Kentucky Rykhouse rum barrels, which gave the''he notes of fruit, caramel and aged oak with a warm, lingering aftertaste of chocolate and spice, notes the distiller.
"With Voyage, we set out to create a drink in which the notes of rum and bourbon harmonize," explains Joy Spence. "By aging Eddie's selected batch of 10-year-old bourbon in the finest barrels on the Appleton Estate, we were able to achieve a new level of flavor that gives whiskey and bourbon lovers a new way to enjoy their favorite drinks. "
'Master'\' Keep Voyage is available at a recommended retail price of $275 for a 750 ml bottle.
