Letitia James' office brings a new detail to Trump's plan.

Attorney General Letitia James' office in New York state asked an appeals court Wednesday to require former President Donald Trump to post bail that fully covers the $454 million civil fraud charge against him. In court documents released Monday, Trump's lawyers argue that securing bail for the full amount is "virtually impossible" for the former president. His attorneys previously asked for an explanation of whether Trump could pay a portion of the $100 million amount while he appeals the judgment.Dennis Phan, a senior assistant state attorney in James' office, said in a court filing Wednesday that Trump's team has not sufficiently proven he can't secure bail. "Defendants' new factual allegations and legal arguments do not support their outstanding request for a stay based on a commitment or deposit of less than one-quarter of the judgment amount," Phan wrote.
