Olive groves and vineyards in Italy invite you to stay overnight..

These olive oil estates or wineries offer unique entertainment and amazing experiences for travelers looking to slow down and spend a night or two.

Among such places is the Feudi estate, covering 1,000 acres, ready to welcome visitors to taste their wine, attend cooking classes at a Michelin-starred restaurant, and stay in a fully restored 300-year-old farmhouse.

Olive oil and wine tours and tastings are a popular part of any trip to Italy, but why not spend a few hours here instead of the whole night? Some of these estates across the country are hoping to attract guests for overnight stays with new accommodations and a variety of activities.

"Suspending your journey at a winery or an olive producer is an opportunity to enjoy the countryside and get to know the local culture," said Maris Bee, manager of Olio2Go, an online store specializing in Italian olive oil. She has lived in more than fifty such places over the past few years. These estates have a small number of rooms and create a relaxed atmosphere, allowing you to interact informally with the locals, including producers, farmers, and chefs," she said.

Here are six producers from all over Italy with numbers that may be new, but the olive oil and wine have been around for decades and centuries.

  • Adriano Cassini, Liguria.Located near the border with France, just a 20-minute drive from the Mediterranean Sea, this olive oil estate and farm is run by the Cassini family and offers three rental houses. The houses accommodate two to four guests, feature fully equipped kitchens, and provide views of the olive groves; there is also a large fruit and vegetable garden and a swimming pool. The Cassinis live on the estate and personally greet all guests. Earlier this year, the family opened an osteria on the property that began operating in the late 19th century and closed in 1912. Guests can pick produce and use it for cooking, milk cows, make cheese, and take pasta-making lessons from the family matriarch, Lina, in her own kitchen. Additionally, every night they are invited to dinner with the Cassinis at their home. Rates start at $150 per day and include some activities.
  • Antonio Roveri, Le-Marche.Antonio Roveri, a producer of olive oil and wine, recently opened an agritourism venture called A 3 Passi on his 150-acre olive oil estate near the city of Ancona. It features seven rooms, three three-room apartments, a pool, and a restaurant. No matter the time of year, guests have the opportunity to assist the estate's farmers in the production of olive oil. For example, they can learn to prune olive trees, and during the harvest season, they can pick and crush olives.

  • Marilisa Allegrini, Veneto.Marilisa Allegrini, one of Italy's most renowned winemakers, owns this 15th-century villa located on a 100-acre vineyard and olive oil estate near the city of Verona. She recently opened 10 rooms on the second floor, all of which, like the villa itself, are luxuriously furnished with 15th-16th century furniture and antiques. Upon check-in, guests work with one of the villa's staff to create a personalized itinerary. Options include walking through the vineyards, wine and olive oil tasting with food, biking, hiking on Monte Baldo, and boating on Lake Garda. They can even buy their own ingredients at the market in Verona and prepare meals in the estate's kitchen. Rates start at 300 euros per day, including breakfast.
  • Feudi Di San Gregorio, Campania.Located in the countryside, a 45-minute drive from the Amalfi Coast, this 1,000-acre winery estate features a new five-room agriturismo in a fully restored 300-year-old farmhouse. The rooms are decorated with modern furniture, and guests have access to a shared kitchen stocked with coffee, olive oil, wine, and cheeses that they can enjoy for free. Feudi is also home to the Michelin-starred restaurant "Marennà," where its head chef, Paolo Barrale, typically offers cooking classes. Other possible activities include walking along the hilly trails on the estate and working with farmers in the vineyard. "When you come here, you become one of us," said Antonio Capaldo, the owner of Feudi.
