Aragon's first water and wastewater plant will open in Q1 2024.
In Spain, an innovative and initial project is being finalized that will become a reality in the near future. The first private hydrogen station for public use, developed by CSIC together with the Aragonese company Zoilo Ríos and with the participation of the Zarauta-based firm Arpa, which won one of the four tenders for the project, will start operating in the first quarter of 2024, as reported from Arpa.
This innovative initiative, developed by the CSIC research team and using green hydrogen produced locally with solar energy, will be installed at the El Cisne gas station, owned by Zoilo Ríos, located at kilometer 309 of the A-2 highway next to the Zaragoza Logistics Platform (Plaza).
One of the projects that Arpa CEO Clara Arpa told the Vice President and Minister of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Government of Aragon, Mare Vaquero, during an official visit to the facility at the Centrovia Landfill in La Muela (Zaragoza), is collaboration with the National Police to install "soon" a temporary reception center for immigrants on the island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands, as well as collaboration with Airbus to operate the new SirTAP (unmanned drone) for the Ministry of Defense, and collaboration with CAF in the first issuance of a green hydrogen train in Spain.
The reliance on these new technologies is also evident in a joint initiative with the Federation of Metallurgy Entrepreneurs to decarbonize industrial landfills based on the storage of excess ze"We have already applied to participate in decarbonization in this initiative," said the CEO.
One thing Arpa is not forgetting about is its core business. Specialized and a world leader in the development of mobile campaigns, the Aragonese company is currently deploying field hospitals in Singapore and Ukraine and is working in Saudi Arabia's mega-city of the future, Neom.
After visiting the facility, Mar Vaquero noted the work of this company, which she called "exemplary" where "tradition and innovation go hand in hand." The Vice President also emphasized that all of the Aragonese company's projects "demonstrate Arpa's social responsibility". As an example, she mentioned their cooperation in their most difficult moments. "Aragonese people still remember everything they did during the pandemic when their work helped save lives," she added.
