Etel Winery in North Cyprus
We spoke to Lin Gold, a winemaker and wine producer who is one of the newest wine producers (viticulture and wine production) in Cyprus and of great importance in the overall cultural heritage of the island of Cyprus, and their winery Ethel Sharapchylik, which was opened in 2017 in the Ilgaz region of northern Cyprus and has achieved international recognition.
We discussed the fascinating history of this winery, from grape growing and wine production to marketing and tourism promotion. They offer unique and quality wines that reflect the cultural importance of wine in Cyprus.
They also plan to open a small wine school where classes will be held. They are keen to develop winemaking in the region and attract more tourists to make Cyprus the center of wine tourism. They also received an award at the International Wine Challenge 2023, which is a great achievement for a winery in Cyprus and contributes to the international recognition of Cypriot wine.
