Predoi: discovering the sights in Northern Italy. Description of the route to this place - Immobiliare.it News.

In the Italian Alps, there are many mountain villages located almost on the border with Italy. One of them is Predoi, the northernmost village in Italy. It is located in South Tyrol and is the only village in Italy located north of the 47th parallel. About 500 people live here, and here is what you need to know about this very small village.

Predoy's story

The history of Predoi is closely linked to the territory in which it is located: in the past copper was mined here, and now the village is known for its craftsmanship, particularly lace-making. Historically, the presence of civilization in Predoja can be traced back to at least 3000 BC, but the first concrete evidence is only from the Middle Ages. It has recently become a famous summer resort for mountain lovers and trekkers in nature.

Attractions

Among the attractions in Predoi is the Mine Museum, where you can learn more about the history of the people of Predoi. The mine was closed in 1971 and turned into a museum complex. Another attraction is the small church of the Holy Spirit, the oldest in the entire Aurina Valley. The Vedrette Ris-Aurina Nature Park is a great place for walking and cycling.

How to get there

To get to Predoi, Italy's northernmost village, it is easy to drive from Bolzano, towards the Austrian border. The journey will take about two hours from the regional capital and a few kilometers from the Austrian border. There is no train station in Predoi, the nearest is in Brunico. Buses leave from there and will take you to the northernmost village of Italy in an hour.

Neighborhood

Near Predoi, in South Tyrol itself, you can visit several charming places. Starting with Brunico, whose historical center is very beautiful and its castle is famous. Another interesting place is the village of Fonte della Rocchia, located in the same valley and consisting only of alpine pastures.
