The properties sold recently to foreigners in the Turkish occupied areas of Cyprus are predominantly owned by Greeks
Turkish Cypriot newspaper Yeni Bakis reported that most of the real estate recently sold to foreigners in the Turkish part of northern Cyprus is on Greek Cypriot land.
Citing data published in late July, the newspaper also noted that 4,209 properties were put up for sale, of which only 975 had Turkish Cypriot title deeds. The rest of the properties were illegally sold to foreign investors, Philenews reported.
Even Turkish Cypriot politicians, including Kudret Ezersay, have demanded an explanation from the illegal regime in the breakaway region.
According to the report, at the end of July, 4,209 plots of land were up for sale, of which only 975 had "Turkish titles of ownership." All the rest were abandoned Greek Cypriots forced to leave their land.
The data also showed that the land for sale consisted of 2,677 plots and 1,532 fields suitable for pooling or investment.
The data shows that the majority of plots and fields for sale are in the Kyrenia area (1,407 plots), followed by Trikomo with 1,169 plots for sale. Also in Famagusta with 784, Nicosia with 726, Morphou with 55 and Lefka with 65.
