Sale of Laudermilka Property - the largest domestic deal of2023

The historic estate of the late Charlie Lauderdale, located at825 Davis Drive, was sold last week for the first time since the15,000-square-foot house was built in1999. The sale price was $8.6 million, making this estate the most expensive property sold in the Buckhead area this year.

This symbolic object is recognized by most as a house with a natural statue of a deer adorning the corner of Davis Drive and Northside Drive. The house was designed by William T. Baker for the Lauder Milks with significant influence from Monticello Thomas Jefferson in Virginia, but double the scale. The estate includes a15,000 square foot home on a14.1-acre plot. There is also a fishing pond, waterfall, greenhouse, an old wooden house formerly used as a hunting lodge, and a barn on the premises.

In November of last year, the property was put up for sale for just over9 million dollars and received several offers before a deal was reached, concluding77 days after it appeared on the market. Real estate broker in Buckhead area, Ben Hirsh, owner of Hirsh Real Estate - Buckhead.com, represented the Lauderdale family in the sale of the estate. "I was lucky enough to meet Charlie and spend time with him here, at his home. He really loved this place, and for me, it was a significant moment in my career to make the sale for his family," Hirsh said.

The sale of the Laudermilka estate once again confirms Hirsch's18 years of experience in the Buckhead market; in2021 and2022, he has completed more deals with top-10 homes in Buckhead than any other realtor.

Raj grew up in New Delhi, India, in an average middle-class family and came to the U.S. in 1982 to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. "I don't even really understand how I ended up here, but I managed to gather enough money for a ticket and found myself washing dishes in the cafeteria while earning my master's degree in mechanical engineering." Raj and Nita met and got married in Chicago, where she grew up, and then settled in the Atlanta metro area, which they have since called home.

Raj Sardana is the CEO of Innova Solutions, which he and Nita founded in 1998. The company is a provider of technology solutions between businesses, with an annual revenue approaching $3 billion and more than 50,000 employees working in 25 different countries around the world. The couple remains committed to the principle of giving back to the communities where the company operates. Nita Sardana is the Vice President of External Relations and Corporate Philanthropy and leads Innova Solutions in supporting local non-profit organizations in the U.S., such as YWCA's Girls in Technology programs, Women in Technology, and the Atlanta Food Bank.

“As a family, we eagerly look forward to enjoying this beautiful estate and the Buckhead community, making it our own,” said the couple. Their son, Charlie Laudermilk's son, Robin, shared his thoughts: “Our father loved his property on Davis Drive and the home he built here. We are very happy for the new owners and grateful for the smooth transaction. Although his former home has passed into new hands, his memory lives on in the legacy he left for our family, the Buckhead community, and the entire city of Atlanta.”
