Kovichan writer Reid Sterling
promises that his new book, The Palimpsest Murders, is "no ordinary detective investigation." It is Sterling's fourth published novel and is described in a press release as a literary mystery journey. It takes place mostly during a bicycle trip on a barge in the Netherlands and focuses on the relationships of the 30 passengers and the dynamics of their shared history as the plot moves to Paris and Greece. There are two suspicious deaths in the book that shed light on other revenge events. Check it out for yourself onhttps://books2read.com/The-Palimpsest-Murders.
Author Robert Amos
In his new book, "E.J. Hughes: A Life by the Lake" chronicles the life of Cowichan's late favorite artist, E.J. Hughes. "The latest installment in a series of award-winning books on the life and work of E.J. Hughes gives the reader a glimpse into the home and studio of this very private artist on Shawneegan Lake," the book's press release said. "Amos conveys life on the shores of Lake Shonnigan with Hughes' observations of birds and trees, trips to local stores and restaurants. He tells of an unusually snowy winter that slowed the delivery of finished paintings to the post office." The book also reveals insights into the artist's relationships with various people in his life. And, of course, it contains many photographs of the artist himself and reproductions of his work.

downtown Duncan wants to liven up winter with its new window decorations for November. "Our street level windows at Imagine That! at 251 Craig St. will be filled with vibrant art, textiles and photographs for sale to bring joy to gray skies," says Kathy Daniel, gallery spokesperson. The first showcase will focus on "A Shared Passion for Color: Sandra Greenaway and Veronica Scott." Greenaway specializes in kimono gowns, while Scott creates mosaic stained glass windows. "Both artisans love working with vibrant color palettes," the press release said. "The combination of smooth, silky fabric with reflective glass creates a gorgeous blend of color and texture." The second showcase will focus on "Capturing the Moment: by Lana McQueen." "As a photography enthusiast, my motivation is to capture our amazing home," says McQueen in a press release. "Photography is an important tool to remind us of the beauty and life that surrounds us every day. It not only captures memories, but also sheds light on the things that ultimately share our home. Photography can evoke an awareness of the fragility and tendency of nature. And, of course, it's a lot of fun! I enjoy and continue to discover the many aspects of my camera, and I am truly inspired by viewers' reactions to my work."
