Selling land to Israel to foreigners...' A mysterious topic.

The Turkish newspaper SABAH investigated Israel's latent interest in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), devoted two consecutive days of major headlines to the topic and generated much discussion not only in Turkey but also in NorthernCyprus. In fact, Israel's interest in Cyprus has a long history. Jewish historians emphasize that these lands are within the so-called Promised Lands. Given the depth of the issue, I decided to conduct an in-depth study to learn the background of this issue from the mouths of the most reputable individuals in the CCTR. It is a complex issue with many unknowns.
- The leadership of Northern Cyprus is very sensitive to this issue. Legislative measures are on''agenda.
- Our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, our ambassador in Lefkosha and other stakeholders are not relaxing. They are closely monitoring developments.
- KKKTR and Turkey are preparing for future events. We have plans A, B and C. But despite all this, the issue is so complex and confusing that we believe it will cause headaches for a long time.
We spoke to Ersin Tatar, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We met with our ambassador to Lefkosha Prof. Dr. Metin Feizioulou. We listened to the opinions of representatives of the construction industry and realtors in Lefkosha, Girne and Famagusta. This issue is very important for the medium and long term''s performance, saying: "According to official data, there are no alarming signals." He added that they are monitoring foreigners' acquisition of real estate on the island. They have announced plans to change the legislation. We, as the Republic of Turkey, are always ready to provide all necessary support in any matter, just like the Prime Minister of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs who made the necessary statement in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.
There is such a "deep state" problem in Cyprus. The deep state knows about it and is closely monitoring it, but no one is paying attention to it. Today the problem of Israelis buying land and real estate in Cyprus is being discussed and argued about. A new law will be passed. There will be some restrictions for Israeli citizens and''limitations. However, there is one very important issue that no one talks about out loud: it is not only Jewish citizens of Israel who buy land/real estate on the island. There are many Jews from all over the world: Jews from Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Lebanon and other countries - they too are buying land/real estate. And, there are also Jews who are citizens of the Republic of Turkey who cannot be stopped from buying land/real estate in Cyprus. The upper governing bodies of the CCTR and the Turkish state are all aware of this, but this problem cannot be discussed openly and loudly.
The real estate market: websites, construction, housing advertising everywhere: at the airport, all over the island. Prices are in pounds sterling.

Officials speak based on official data. We have also studied the official data and we see that at first glance there is no cause for concern. But there is also unofficial data. What is the scale of this data? No one knows the answer to that question. Let me give a brief overview of the problem: In Turkey, the purchase/sale of real estate is formalized at the cadastral agency. В''In North Cyprus a sales contract is signed at an estate agency for the purpose of buying/selling a property. This is not a cadastral inspection but is legally binding. In North Cyprus it is also possible to sign a contract of sale and purchase of property with a solicitor. This is not a cadastral inspection but is also legally binding. The buyer then goes to the cadastre and formalizes the official procedures. There is no time limit in these three steps, it could take a few months or even years, it doesn't matter. The buyer can rent or sell the property whenever he wants. The problem is that the state cannot know how many foreigners have purchased the property. Only the number registered in the cadastre is known. How many''Israelis own real estate in Cyprus today? The official figures are known. But who bought, made a deal in a construction company or with a lawyer - the state doesn't know, nobody knows.
All notes and observations regarding Cyprus are not over yet.
