The Silk Revival project in North Cyprus has been unveiled
The launch of the 'Revival of Silk in Northern Cyprus' project, led by Sibel Tatar, wife of President Ersin Tatar, with the patronage of the President, took place last night at the Presidential Palace.
The aim of the project, which aims to revive the disappearing tradition of cocoon and silk production on the island, is to create a labeled product based on quality silk derived from the Cypriot silkworm and develop a design aimed at the domestic market, the foreign market and tourists to create a highly profitable product.
In the framework of this project, a silkworm farm was established in Akçay and the products are being developed under the brand name "Kozada".
At the inauguration of the project, President Ersin Tatar and''s wife Sibel Tatar thanked the project participants and presented them with commemorative plates and certificates.
The opening of the booth featuring products made of natural materials derived from silkworm cocoons, such as children's clothes, shawls and scarves, also took place with the participation of President Ersin Tatar and his wife Sibel Tatar. Designer Munyüse Agagil presented the products and said the products will be made of natural materials using embroidery, handwork and cocoon jewelry.
Sibel Tatar said that through this project, the possibility of transforming labor, work, faith and cultural values of the past into all-natural products created using women's' was demonstrated'labor, and became a product of Northern Cyprus. Tatar also stressed that through labor and the belief that we can produce and win, we will see results. She wished North Cyprus to produce and create even more products.
Sibel Tatar expressed her gratitude to Dervişa Çeliker, Chairman of the Cyproturk Silk Spinning Association and his initiative to revitalize silk production, as well as Akçay Village Head Uğur Dereliköl, designer Munyuse Agagil, teachers of Akçay Women's School, Zeytinağacı Charity Society, Prof. Ozge Özden, who is involved in genetic research on silkworms, and all those who contributed to the project.
President Ersin Tatar expressed his pleasure to participate in his wife's''Transforming the cultural basis, which is the basis of existence on this island, into production will bring prosperity and happiness, and emphasized the importance of promoting national values, work and production to present Northern Cyprus to the world.
Tatar also touched on the developments in Pyla in his speech and said: "Our answer to those who think that people from Pyla can only reach their area and who for years have been looking at their suffering with indifference - we are here. We will continue to exist. We are one of two equal peoples on this island. One of the two equal peoples, the Cyproturk people, will continue to exist because of their natural right to sovereignty. "
The Tatar president also stated,''that through the perseverance and determination of the people, women, youth and future generations will continue to exist and overcome obstacles.
