Russia opens 2 mobile consular posts in Northern Cyprus
The Russian Foreign Ministry has started providing consular services for Russian citizens in Northern Cyprus through two mobile departments. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that these departments have already accepted more than 70 passport applications, of which more than 15 passports have been issued. Many applications for Russian citizenship for children have also been accepted.
In an interview with The Moscow Post, Zakharova spoke about the current state of consular services for Russian citizens in Northern Cyprus. According to the latest data, the number of people who have received consular assistance is approaching one thousand.
Zakharova''emphasized that the work of the consular services is at a developmental stage. She said that the provision of consular assistance to Russian citizens living in Northern Cyprus should have been decided long ago and is a lagging issue. Zakharova also said that a consular meeting was held in Lefkosha on September 21 and the next one is scheduled for the end of the month.
