Real estate market: deals up 9% on island - News - Ansa.it

The island of Sardinia is becoming increasingly attractive to international investors, not only because of its beaches and towns. Real estate within the island is also in demand because of the impending discovery of several internationally significant mineral deposits. This is one of the conclusions of the annual Fimaa Sardinia study presented in Cagliari. The real estate market in Sardinia is recovering: sales are up 9%, amounting to almost 18,500 transactions.

The demand for real estate in Sardinia

"This growth was predictable," says Marco Mainas, president of the Association of Real Estate Agents. - The real estate market in 2021 and 2022 showed unexpected results. The increase in the number of transactions after the pandemic''has also led to new housing needs, and our industry has responded to the market by meeting a significant portion of demand and adding to the overall vibrancy of the real estate market.

Trends in real estate sales

In 2022, the most positive sales result was in Sassari with a 14% increase (5,788 transactions) and in Cagliari with an 8% increase (5,948 transactions). However, in the first quarter of 2023, the number of transactions for the capital of Sardinia fell by 18%. Experts point out that this decline is partly due to an increase in variable interest on loans.

Interest from foreign investors

The number of acquisitions in Guerrey over the year was at least four people from France and northern Italy who were here on vacation.

"One of these'''Persson even decided to move,' says Mainas. - After all, beautiful beaches such as Costa Rei and Muravera can be easily reached from Guerrei. The quality of life, the healthy food and the appropriate value for money of real estate make this area and other small areas of Sardinia attractive to Italian and foreign investors. "
