The most expensive home in the U.S. at $295 million, located in Florida
A luxury aquatic complex in Naples, Florida has gone on the market for a potentially record-breaking price of $295 million. If it sells anywhere close to that astronomical price, the deal will become the most expensive residential real estate sale in the United States. More specifically, it will surpass the record set by billionaire hedge-fund investor Ken Griffin, who paid an estimated $240 million for a penthouse in the 220 Central Park South building in Manhattan in early 2019.
The proposed for sale residence record in the United States has a tropical resort complex on the very edge of a peninsula in the luxurious Port Royal neighborhood, and has a colorful story about its emergence. Financier John Donahue allegedly saw the still undeveloped parcel of land known as Gordon Point as he was being flown over it in an airplane and declared to his wife, Rhodora Donahue, "I want to go there." And in 1985 he did, buying the then 4.3-acre parcel for $1 million. I daresay you'll be interested in learning more.....
