The death of Tina Turner: A 60 Minutes interview with Mike Wallace in France is gaining millions of views: I deserve more.

An interview with Tina Turner, conducted in her home in France, shows that she knew her worth: "I deserve more." The music icon Tina Turner passed away at the age of 83 after a long illness, and fans, remembering the tireless "queen of rock and roll," began sharing a clip from a 1997 interview she gave to Mike Wallace for CBS News' "60 Minutes."

In the interview, Turner shows Wallace her estate in the south of France. She had been living in Europe for over ten years at that point. As they tour the vast estate with breathtaking views, Wallace asks Turner, "Do you feel like you deserve all of this?" "I deserve even more," Turner laughs.

This exchange of remarks went viral - 25 years after she confidently confirmed her worth. At that time, it was expected that she would earn 100 million dollars during a three-month European tour. Wallace admitted that he had no idea Turner was such a popular star in Europe. "No one in America knows about this," Turner replied.

When Wallace asked her how "American" she felt, Turner, who grew up in rural Tennessee, said, "Still very American. I still don't speak foreign languages here. I still pay taxes in America. I own property in America. All my businesses are still operating from America," she said.

"But inside me? I don't think I'll ever go back home."

Tina Turner was an even more popular star in Europe than in America.

“No one in America knows about this. I mean, people are always surprised when I explain,” Tina Turner told Mike Wallace in 1996. In her retirement, Turner settled in Zurich, Switzerland, and was there when she passed away this week, her spokesperson reported.

During a 1997 interview, Turner showed Wallace other aspects of her luxurious life - a custom-ordered Lamborghini and a private jet used for touring, as well as her Buddhist altar. Turner, who was born into a Baptist family, said she turned to Buddhism to overcome difficult times.

The eight-time Grammy winner had a music career that spanned decades and began when she was discovered by Ike Turner, whom she married and who subjected her to physical abuse. This relationship and the violence were detailed in her autobiography "I, Tina" and in the 1993 biographical film "What's Love Got to Do with It," starring Angela Bassett.

Turner said that she doesn't regret the film making her relationship issues public, but she does regret that "it was terrible for me and that people found out." "I am constantly reminded of it. It's been almost 20 years, and Ike has already been married twice," she said in an interview.

She also said that she underwent corrective surgery after her face was "mutilated," and she had issues with her sinuses due to nose damage from the violence. Ike Turner died in 2007.

During the interview, Turner also introduced Wallace to her longtime partner, music producer Erwin Bach. Turner said that at the time, they didn't feel the need to get married. The couple eventually married in 2013 after 27 years together and remained together until her death.
