Property tax due date
The property owners whose Municipal Property Tax (IMI) exceeds €100 can pay the last part of this tax before the end of this month, if they have not opted for full payment in May. Reminds the Tax Office (AT) in a Facebook post, "November is the month to pay the last installment of the municipal property tax. You can view your account information in your personal account on the Finance portal. "
What are the deadlines for paying IMI?
According to the current legislation, if a taxpayer has a municipal property tax (IMI) of more than 100 euros but less than 500 euros, it is automatically split into two parts. If the amount exceeds €500, payment is made in May and November''or in May, August and November respectively.
According to AT data, 4,082,440 IMI accounts have been issued this year, of which 916,359 represent amounts up to €100. This category includes 2,486,548 accounts with a tax value between €100 and €500 and 679,533 accounts above €500.
The same information shows that this year there were 556,011 taxpayers who paid the IMI tax upfront for 2022, meaning they used a special code from the May invoice to pay the tax in full.
The IMI rates are set annually by municipalities between 0.3% and 0.45%, with higher rates for vacant or demolished properties. IMI is calculated based on the taxable value (VPT) shown in the matrices as of December 31 of the year to which it relates
