A third of workers in South Cyprus are paid below €1,249.

The majority of the working population receives low wages, while the share of those who receive monthly earnings of 6 thousand euros or more has increased over the last three years.
according to the State Statistical Office of Politis.One third of workers (33.4%) receive monthly earnings of less than €1,249. 15.4% of them have monthly gross wages between €1,000 and €1,250. 9.9% of workers earn between €750 and €999 per month, while 8.1% earn less than €750 per month. 12.1% of workers have a monthly gross salary between €1,250 and €1,499.
The share of those who receive a monthly gross salary of 6,000 euros increased by 1% to 3.7%, up from 2.7% in 2019.
There is also a big difference in salaries between women and men. 18% of women and 13.3% of men earn gross salaries between €1,000 and €1,249.
