Police killings of African Americans in the last 7 years: nearly 2,000 deaths.
In statistics and data collection, African Americans are 2.5 times more likely to be killed by police than whites. This became apparent after the case of George Floyd, an African-American man of 46 years old, killed by police officer Derek Chovin in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25. It sparked violent protests across the United States and in many countries around the world for one week.
What's going on in the case of George Floyd?
The following was seen during the protests that arose after his death:

In the last 7 years, 1,945 African Americans have been killed by police in the United States. The most dangerous states for African Americans from 2013-2019 were California with 186, Florida with 169, Texas with 157, Georgia with 98 and Illinois with 96. It is noted that in Minneapolis, where the George Floyd murder occurred, 17 African Americans were killed by police.
